Sociology in the news
One of the things that's exciting about sociology is that it helps us to understand what's happening in the world about us. Events we find hard to make sense of or that frighten us — such as climate change, war, and poverty — are all of interest to sociologists.
Anthony Giddens has been at the forefront of attempts to explain these dramatic, or perplexing, social changes. In this section of the site, he discusses events that are currently in the news, beginning with the problem of terrorism.
