Jeffrey Haynes is professor of politics at London Metropolitan University. His teaching specialisms are: globalisation and international relations; religion and politics; and politics of developing countries. He is the Head of the Governance and International Relations Section, City campus. He is also Course Organiser for Politics, responsible for administrative oversight of undergraduate courses in this area. He also played a major role in the development of undergraduate and postgraduate International Relations programmes at the university both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

He has more than 100 publications, including 15 books, 40 articles and 45 book chapters. Single-authored books include: Religion in Third World Politics (1993); Religion and Politics in Africa (1996); Third World Politics (1996); Democracy and Civil Society in the Third World (1997); Religion in Global Politics (1998); Democracy in the Developing World (2001); Politics in the Developing World (2002); Comparative Politics in a Globalizing World , Cambridge (2005); The Politics of Religion (2005); and Religion and International Relations (2006); and Religion and Development (2007).

His edited books are: Religion, Globalisation and Political Culture in the Third World (1999); Democracy and Political Change in the 'Third World' (2001); Towards Sustainable Democracy in the Third World (2001); and Palgrave Advances in Development Studies (2005)

His current research interests include: comparative politics and globalisation; religion and politics; and development issues.
